THE HIVE // GLASTONBURY

From Concept to Crowd: Developing the Branding and Motion Graphics
for The Hive at Glastonbury

The Hive at Glastonbury Festival has been running for several years under a different name, and for around four to five years in its current form. Growing slightly each year, with increasingly ambitious line-ups, it felt like the right time to establish a more permanent look and feel.

Despite being part of one of the biggest festivals in the world, The Hive is effectively run by volunteers, driven by a genuine love for the scene. Because of this, we poured our heart and soul into the design and creative for the stage while working with a virtually non-existent budget. Each year the stage grows stronger, and this year was no exception, with a cohesive style and visual identity executed across the entire design.

The Hive is a space to explore, experiment, and create.

A key feature of The Hive logo is the subtle imperfections peppered throughout its design. Much of the stage is handmade, and it was important to us that this ethos was represented from the ground up.

THE LINEUP

I wanted to push the boat out this year with the lineup, so I created a custom texture map to extrude some flat geometry and push the work onto the Redshift renderer. You can see images from the process below.

The response was great, with strong engagement across social media. For the first time, the official Glastonbury Festival Instagram page also shared our post.
